The 16-year-old boy was interviewed by police on Saturday night and charged with intentionally causing injury, affray, assault with a weapon, and committing an indictable offence while on bail. He has been remanded in custody to appear before a children's court at a later date. Police say the investigation is ongoing. Staff at the Sporting Globe called emergency services and initiated first aid. (ABC News: Nate Woodall) Member for Bendigo East and Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan described the attack last week as "horrifying" and defended her government's record on increasing police powers. Meanwhile, Nationals candidate Andrew Lethlean, who intends to challenge the premier for her seat at the upcoming state election, said more needs to be done to combat violence. "We've got to talk to police, we've got to talk to the justice system, we've got to talk to the people who are being affected by it and find real solutions that are going to be of long-term benefit," Mr Lethlean said. "[This is] certainly not the Bendigo I know and it's certainly not the Victoria I know." Council to Homeless Persons chief executive Debora Di Natale also condemned the attack, describing it as unacceptable. "This is a real tragedy for all people now who are sleeping rough who will be reading about this and will be worried about their own safety," Ms Di Natale said.In short:
